Experience
Engineering Manager — DME Flow
Pensacola, FL (Remote) · December 2025 – Present
I manage a team of 5 software engineers building healthcare workflow automation for durable medical equipment (DME) suppliers, owning data integrations and operational reliability. I also own the Client Solutions function and serve as technical lead for client rollouts, and I stay hands-on: 130+ merged pull requests to the workflow engine and its services since the promotion.
Reliability and data integrity
- Fixed patient notes being reported as saved but never written (8.3% of one client's notes): traced the bug to a Lambda timeout re-invoking long-running jobs, and added save verification across 3 repositories.
- Root-caused a silent 6-hour scheduler outage, where a database deadlock killed the scheduler thread while health checks stayed green; added alarms and EC2 auto-recovery after later container failures.
- Traced 226,892 orphan rows (99.7% of a Delta table) to a stale merge-key formula.
- Traced workflow-server crashes under load to unbounded Playwright Chromium concurrency exhausting threads.
- Fixed an eligibility pipeline where every request deactivation silently did nothing, by replacing a random key with the deterministic hash used in the Databricks gold table.
- Fixed a Delta Lake sync that loaded 1.65 million rows (~1 GB) per page to return 792; each sync now reads the table once instead of four times, and pagination no longer skips or repeats rows.
Platform and migrations
- Cut 4 client environments over to a new Databricks workspace, moving every Asset Bundle deployment.
- Migrated 35 client dashboards from AWS QuickSight to Databricks AI/BI as code, with dashboard-scoped embed tokens, then retired QuickSight.
- Moved 12 AWS security-group rules and API Gateway policies to a new egress IP a week before the old address was retired, adding the new rules before removing the old so no traffic dropped.
- Shipped patient- and item-level resupply scheduling to replace sales-order templates in the EHR, writing to MySQL and S3 in one transaction for the workflow engine to pick up.
Security
- Fixed 3 access-control vulnerabilities: a cross-organization data leak, an insecure direct object reference on dashboard embeds, and a privilege escalation.
- Led the response to a secret-exposure alert: purged Git history; rotated cloud, database, and API keys; and moved EC2 instances to IAM role-based access.
- Wrote the HIPAA traceability hardening roadmap: client-scoped service accounts, no plaintext keys on disk, and guards against cross-client writes.
Quality and engineering practice
- Raised web app test coverage from 2% to 99% (133 to 1,200+ tests) and Cloud Functions coverage from 71% to 99%, turning about 60 known bugs into regression tests.
- Built Claude agent triage for Jira Service Management support tickets, and replaced a third-party AI reviewer with a shared Claude PR-review skill.
- Moved the team from a single reviewer to peer PR review, and trained engineers to run their own workflow deployments.
- Set up support triage with response-time targets, a daily support review, an on-call rotation, and Datadog monitoring and runbooks.
- Added production QA alerts in Databricks that flag records that should never exist.
Client delivery
- Onboarded 6 new clients in 2026, taking 4 from kickoff to first live automation in 6 to 11 weeks, and standardized the rollout with a deployment document template.
- Onboarded an enterprise client in 3 months: incremental Snowflake-to-Databricks ingestion, validation rules with fuzzy matching, automated QA that ships or holds orders in Brightree on a 15-minute cadence (30 to 60 runs a day), and accounts-receivable and KPI reporting.
- Delivered a contracted KPI dashboard pack with 4 of 5 dashboards live the day the agreement was signed.
- Hired and onboarded 4 team members, and organized and presented a backend engineering lunch-and-learn.

Lead Software Engineer — DME Flow
Pensacola, FL (Remote) · January 2024 – December 2025
Integrations and automation
- Led integration of the Brightree and Bonafide healthcare systems: a typed Python API client, workflow engine actions, and a daily sync of patients, insurance, physicians, orders, documents, and payments, live in 3 weeks.
- Took a Playwright browser-automation bot from proof of concept to production for Brightree operations that lack an API (WIP-state moves, payments, item updates, drop ships), with retries, error screenshots, and save verification, across about 100 pull requests over 18 months.
- Extended a Turing-complete workflow language and its Python execution engine with new actions: scalar extraction, threaded iteration, record updates, activity tasks, and nested sub-workflows.
- Compared AWS Textract, Bedrock, and Google Gemini for extracting signatures, dates, and insurance data from scanned medical documents.
- Ran weekly implementation calls with 3 enterprise clients.
Data platform
- Built a Databricks medallion lakehouse: Delta Lake merges with hash-based change detection, deployed as Asset Bundles through GitHub Actions, feeding write-backs for multiple clients.
- Built event-driven S3 ingestion of spreadsheet exports so operations staff can change QA rules, KPI settings, and worklist assignments without code changes.
Web app, security, and delivery
- Built the customer web app from scratch: SvelteKit, TypeScript, Firebase, Google and Microsoft SSO, MFA, MySQL, AWS Lambda, and per-client embedded analytics.
- Hardened public API endpoints (stack-trace leaks, injection checks) ahead of a third-party penetration test that returned 0 findings.
- Led security and compliance work: a vendor security questionnaire, a network and vulnerability audit of API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, and databases, GuardDuty threat detection, and copyleft license cleanup.
- Set up engineering guardrails across repositories: release-please versioning, CI auto-deploy of workflow definitions, GitGuardian secret scanning in pre-commit, CODEOWNERS, and a QA checklist PR template.
SecureCompliance (sister company)
- Built a FinCEN beneficial-ownership e-filing SaaS: direct API filing with XML validation for initial, correction, update, and exemption reports, and a Pub/Sub status checker that stores results and transcripts.
- Wrote a Puppeteer bot that files through FinCEN's web form, behind a feature flag that switches between API and bot without a deploy.
- Built Stripe subscription billing end to end: saved payment methods, org-level billing, coupons, ACH, automatic tax, and daily quantity updates driven by Firestore listeners.
- Redesigned the Firestore data model for large organizations with listener-maintained collections, server-side pagination, and indexed queries.
- Set up delivery from day one: Firebase emulators, semantic-release, GitHub Actions deploys with gated production, Cypress and Jest, Sentry, and Firestore backups to S3.

Software Engineer II — Output
Los Angeles, CA (Remote) · February 2023 – January 2024
I worked on the team responsible for all of Output's web services.
- Led the separation of subscription checkout from the WordPress monolith into its own application, the first service extracted; its SSH build-and-deploy process and Nginx setup set the pattern for the services that followed.
- Co-authored the shared login package that replaced WordPress logins with JWT-based logins across Output's newer web apps.
- Led the "Upgrade with a Coupon" and "Painted Door" epics; built a working Upgrade prototype in 2 days to surface UX and edge-case issues before full development.
- Built 3 proofs of concept on different GCP products to replace the WordPress API endpoints that proxied requests to Recurly.
- Built the beta product page for Co-Producer, Output's first AI product, in about a day, plus the audio player cards for its landing page and app.
- Contributed to the account pages, Output Creator, and Tiers V2 and V3, and cleared the account-page bugs blocking testing.
